Having made a name for herself playing at legendary New York proto-punk venue Max’s Kansas City with her first band the Asexuals, Annie ‘Anxiety’ Bandez moved to England in the early 80s and has collaborated with Coil, Nurse With Wound, Marc Almond, Bonnie Prince Billy, Swans, and many others. Her decade-long association with On-U Sound included a period living in a shed in Adrian’s back garden (!) and numerous studio sessions. This particular recording found in the On-U vaults almost certainly dates from the recording of her brilliant and harrowing Soul Possession album for Crass sub-label Corpus Christi, originally slated to be ONULP29. A haunting slice of noir-pop, it’s a suitably rain-streaked late night journey to end the album on. Annie continues to record and perform and has recently written her memoirs.
