In some ways, Playgroup tie this whole album together. It was the moniker under which Trevor Jackson released music at the turn of the new millennium, producing tracks featuring a genre-crossing selection of guest artists. It was also the name given to an earlier, unrelated, On-U group - yet another short-lived project featuring Adrian pushing the limits of the studio technology of the time to make some completely unique music in collaboration with his then-partner Kishi and a revolving cast of supporting players including Steve Beresford, Lol Coxhill, Bruce Smith (drummer for The Pop Group), Gerry Malekani (guitarist for Manu Dibango) and many more. An intriguing rumour exists that the original idea was to record an album with Don Cherry under the name The Martial Clappers, but when he failed to show, the resulting dub session became the Playgroup album Epic Sound Battles Chapter One. This particular track has never been reissued since its initial release as the b-side to the On-U Playgroup’s sole 12” release Going Overdrawn.
