Tackhead’s militant blend of industrial, noise, hip-hop, funk, dub and cut-up vocal snippets was unprecedented and extremely radical when they first started releasing records in the mid-80s. As Keith Le Blanc comments: “We were always trying to do things that had not been done before. We were first to use samples on live gigs because all our records were made with them. People like Living Color, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Radiohead came to our gigs trying to figure out how we did it. Tackhead and Fats Comet were everybody's template!” Second single proper “What’s My Mission Now?” (an earlier version of the group had cut a side for 3C Records in 83) saw them honing their all-out aural assault, with this version of the track in particular pushing each sound to it’s furthest limits.
