The Circuit was a studio collaboration between Adrian and multi-instrumentalist Steve Beresford, a figure who has played with a wide variety of artists, from unlikely hitmakers The Flying Lizards to arch-conceptualist Christian Marclay. Steve came from a background in the improvised music scene, cutting his teeth with the likes of Derek Bailey and Evan Parker. After playing in the expanded touring line-up of The Slits, he became one of the core musicians who featured on many early On-U recordings, and his instrumentation can heard on sides by Playgroup, Dub Syndicate and the New Age Steppers. Under The Circuit moniker he was scheduled to record an entire album, Presenting The Circuit, which somehow never materialised. The original version of this track appeared on 1985 compilation Pay It All Back Volume 1 but here is presented in rawer demo form. Steve continues to record and perform, and is a senior lecturer in commercial music at the University Of Westminster.
