about

One of the many mysterious studio groups to emerge from the intensely prolific early days of On-U Sound. This was a period when days and nights would be lost at the mixing desk coming up with all sorts of strange and wonderful sounds, at whatever recording facility could be begged, stolen or borrowed by the fledgling operation. The creative brains behind Missing Brazilians were partners Adrian Sherwood and Kishi Yamamoto, at that time co-running the label. Adrian of course is the producer of almost every single On-U release, whilst Kishi provided the distinctive sleeve designs, documented the wide variety of musicians who recorded for the label with her beautifully evocative monochrome photography, and played on many early tracks. This naggingly melodic instrumental features Kishi's alien keyboard sounds over an Adrian (credited as 'The Prisoner') digidub rhythm, with percussion from On-U mainstay Bonjo (of African Head Charge fame). Science Fiction Dancehall in a nutshell.
